The Fast and Fun Way to Get Fit

Updated: Feb 22, 2020

When you hear the word #cardio, what comes to mind? Maybe the dreaded 30-minute jog on the treadmill only to leave you feeling defeated? Or climbing on the StairMaster (more like the stairway to hell). Many of us don't enjoy doing cardio because it usually requires a long time to get sweaty and to see results.

But what if cardio could be fast, fun, and effective? Well, it can! There is one workout that beats all the rest by far. Its something you already know how to do, you used to do when you were in grade school: Jump rope!

That's right, this isn't just playground equipment, it's your new best friend when it comes to working out.

A Men's Health article showcased a study that proves this to be true. In the study, after six weeks of daily 10-minute jump-rope exercises, participants demonstrated the same levels of improvement to their cardiovascular health as individuals who jogged for 30 minutes a day. Not only this but rope torches way more calories per minute than any other cardio exercise.

The average person burns 15-20 calories per minute skipping rope, so in just 10 minutes you'll be drenched in sweat and making some real improvements for your heart, muscles, and coordination!

There are many jump ropes on the market ranging from $10-$150, so it would be a good idea to check out your options and understand the two types of jump ropes.

Speed ropes are thin and very light. They help to build speed and improve coordination. Here are some great speed ropes that you can try.

Weighted ropes vary in weight and they help to build up muscle. Because they are heavier than speed ropes, they burn more calories. These ropes are often more expensive but if you are looking to lose weight and build muscle in one workout, this might be the way to go. Here is a list of the 8 Best Weighted Jump Ropes.

So now that you have your rope, what do you do now? Luckily there are several places to look to for jump rope workouts. You can always check on YouTube, or download the Crossrope App for hundreds of fun workouts and challenges for you to complete. They also have a Crossrope Community page on Facebook where you can post questions and insights (no need to have a Crossrope jump rope to be a member of the community).

Skip the dreadful, boring cardio that you used to do and start skipping rope for fast workouts, fun moves, and effective results!
